Camlock coupling fittings are used to connect two pipes or hoses together in different industries. There are three types of materials that are common of camlock which is stainless steel SS316, aluminium and brass material. The camlock regular size is from 1/2″ to 6”.
The multi-purposed use of camlock fittings can be applied for various fields of industry such as petroleum, chemistry, steel, medicines, food, agriculture, shipping etc. It helps the commodity or liquids to transfer from one end to another end. It is recognized as a reliable coupling for application of oil and gas industry. The fitting designed is easy to operate and requires no tools for installation.

What are camlock fittings
1. What is a camlock fitting? The standard camlock fitting is made in accordance to EN14420-7 standard. This standard specifies the materials, dimensions, design and marking requirement. The European standard is interchangeable with Federal Standard A-A-59326 (Previosly American military specification Mil Spec: Mil-C-27487) ,but varies in term of thread, hose tail design and part number. |

4. How does a camlock work?
It can be installed by hand to force down the cam arms compressing the coupler gasket to ensure a tight seal. The fitting installation replaces the traditional time consuming methods and provide cost effectiveness for users. Camlock fittings are designed to prevent loosening against vibration and accidental breaking.

1. NBR (Buna N)
Standard seal material in metal camlock coupling. Synthetic rubber is chemical resistance and has great temperature capabilities to neoprene. The material is resistant to oil base hydraulic fluid fats, animal and vegetable oil, flame retardant, liquids, grease, water and air.2. EPDM
Standard seal material in our polypropylene camlock coupling. EPDM is resistant to ozone, heat, steam strong acid, alcohol and alkalis. However, it is not suitable for use in greases, oils and aromatic hydrocarbons.
3. Viton
It is an excellent resistance to mineral oils, aromatic, greases and special chlorinated hydrocarbons, petrol, diesel fuels, silicon oils and many corrosive industry applications. It is also efficient in withstanding to temperature, weathering and gas permeability. But it is not suitable for uses against amines, esters, steam or low temperature service.
4. PTFE (Telfon)
It is good resistant to almost all chemicals and it has good temperature capabilities. It has limited flow capabilities and makes the use of rubber filler essential.
5. Do camlock fittings leak?
The fitting connection is quick and easy to undertake. The design is made to secure and provide a leak-proof connection for hoses and pipes. To ensure the fluid transfer effectiveness, refer to 3 steps below when you connect a set of camlock fittings:
- Open the coupler by pulling back the locking level above the cam handles while rotating the handles away from coupler’s body.
- Next, place the adaptor plug into the coupler.
- Third, close the coupler by rotating the cam handles towards the coupler’s body. Fitting is locked when the camlock handles are closed. The coupler is closed properly when the locking levers on both handles assemblies are flush to body. Insert safety clip through the holes above the handle to have extra security. Line pressure will move the coupler and adaptor individually and ensure increase of locking leverage. Safety locks are recommended to use in normal condition. The coupler and the adaptor are used to minimize the fluid turbulence and the abrasion from dry products when both connected.
To disconnect camlock fitting, refer to simple 4 steps below:
